Transcript:
Juicy Couture Couture Couture is a sweet fruity floral in a fancy bottle that looks like it comes from a magical queendom. I have to say that I love the whole idea of the Juicy Couture brand, with their color and their chaos and their cuteness.
I especially love their slogans: “Be Loud”, “Go Overboard”, “Make a Mess”, “Show Off”. These are truly words to live by – but maybe not to smell by. I know these wildly popular perfumes are aimed at 13-year-olds, but do they have to smell like red candy mixed with pink candy mixed with purple candy? Turned up to 11?
Yes, they do. Didn’t you read the slogans? “Be Loud!” “Make a Mess!”
Couture Couture is the third JC offering, after Juicy Couture and Viva La Juicy. After Juicy Couture’s shriek-y orange blossoms and Viva La Juicy’s caramel-coated fruit-loop detergent musk, I was hoping that Couture Couture would offer a little nasal redemption. Something that revealed a secret sophistication.
Something that wasnt what it is: an even-Steven, let’s go halvsies, 50-50 blend of Juicy Couture and Viva La Juicy.
But after I fought my way through the sharp, synthetic-smelling white florals and the sugary musk, I found a bit I really liked. Maybe I’m just imagining this, but there’s almost a hippie incense-y smell in Couture Couture.
I like that hippie incense-y smell! It gives this eau de parfum some boho funk. Overall, I’d say the effect of wearing Couture Couture is like drinking grape Kool-Aid in a head shop. “Go Overboard!” I’m Katie Puckrik, and I smell.

Katie Puckrik smells Black Orchid by Tom Ford

Transcript:
Tom Ford Black Orchid hits ya with a syrupy, almost fermented mix of mushroomy chocolate and berries. The oozy over-ripeness peaks with a cheesy note before it softens to leather.
Way to make an entrance!
Real black orchids naturally have a sweet, cocoa-vanilla scent, and it’s no wonder that they inspired this debauched concoction. But ten minutes in, Black Orchid lightens up into something a little aquatic. I smell the shadow of pineapple, which vibrates between sweetness and piss.
This reminds me that Tom Ford’s input on Black Orchid was to request that it “smell like a man’s crotch”. All I can say is that Tom’s had his nose in some pretty high-class groins, because this thing is a million miles away from a party in a public toilet. Capiche?
This eau de parfum keeps getting more watery and floral as it lifts off the skin. After it settles in, it thins out to low-key woodiness. It pretty much blows its wad at the top.
Overall, Black Orchid is bold and pleasingly weird. It’s an oceanic oriental that makes an exotic evening scent for the ladies, and a great non-clichéd choice for men. I’m Katie Puckrik, and I smell.

Sinner by Kat Von D is the “bad girl” side of the tattoo babe’s Saint and Sinner perfume duo. This eau de parfum is a beautiful blend of sweet orange blossom, jasmine and warm, musky woods.
Sinner is a pretty respectable dupe of one of my recent favorites: Juliette Has a Gun Lady Vengeance. That one is a va-va voom perfume with rose and patchouli. Sinner does a similar number with jasmine instead of rose.
I like how Sinner is warm and dramatic without being a big ol’ soupy mush of competing notes. The drydown puts me in mind of Sarah Jessica Parker Lovely with its white florals and musk. Overall, Sinner is a “hot night out” perfume for younger vixens.
According to Kat Von D’s division of the world into Saints and Sinners, I’d have to say I’m emphatically a Sinner. That’s what my nose is telling me, anyway!
If you’re gonna smell like a Sinner, you need to look wicked! Click on over to Vintage or Tacky to see Cora’s Sinner-inspired make-up tutorial. You’re gonna look bad! Well, not bad…but “bad”! I’m Katie Puckrik, and I smell.

Hi everyone : D
This is a response to a request by VivaLaPoetess – and am so sorry that it’s taken me ages to get round to it! But I hope you enjoy it!
I’m not a huge fragrance/perfume fan – I only have a few. I go through phases of wearing perfume every day – then can go for a couple of months without wearing any. I like light and fresh fragrances – nothing too strong.
Do let me know what you think about these choices – or indeed any fragrances you love that are light and refreshing!
Hope you all had a good weekend! : D
